I know that AAA batteries can promote use of disposable batteries which require replacing and re-purchasing every so often, it's important to note that you can (and should) use rechargeable AAAs instead.

This makes it much better than the Roku and Apple remotes since once their permanently-installed batteries wear out, you're stuck buying a new remote instead of just new AAAs which is much worse for the environment.
